E95 - Muppets, Gilman, Green Day, East Bay Punk, Tattoos

After a little quarantine talk, we do some happiness exercises and get right into some fun filmmaking memories. Julianne worked on The Muppet Movie and recalls a day shooting with Chris Cooper, stunt explosions and injuries, and what Brian Henson had to say about his dad Jim Henson. Another sweet man we discuss is Chris Martin from Coldplay. Is Joelle horny or just nostalgic for live music and happier times? We'll go with the latter as we segue into nostalgia talk about 924 Gilman St., the co-op music club from our Bay Area youth. Julianne reconnected with friends from these days, and we both watched the documentary Turn It Around: The Story of East Bay Punk to see her friend Sean's role. She talks about his connection to Green Day, and adds a hilarious story about Lint (aka Tim Armstrong) and Lars, the guys from Operation Ivy and Rancid. Why was Julianne fascinated by these types of people? She connected with guys who were interesting and wild, a lot like her friend Puck from The Real World San Francisco. We hear a funny story about him and our dad in the San Ramon Christmas tree farm, and then remember a story about the East Area Rapist (Golden State Killer) in that same farm, and a Richard Ramirez (Night Stalker) serial killer rental-house connection. We get back into talking about the psychology and angst behind punk music, and the judgements that go along with the music, the hair, and even the tattoos. It quickly turns into a parenting discussion about tattooing, morals, and shame. We battle out who was the worst teen and when a parent needs to draw the line vs when to compromise with your kids when they go down this path. Where do YOU fall on the punk to square scale?!

E94 - When is Horror Okay for Kids?

Parenting does not come with a handbook. So when is it okay to let your kids watch horror movies? Joelle has two teenage sneaky boys interested in gruesome and gory, and one little girl fascinated by the occult. But being a mom who hates scary things herself, she questions whether she has been too overprotective with her restrictions. Cool aunt and introspective sister Julianne weighs in with her perspective, as she recollects being a kid seeking out thrillers. How were we raised and how did we turn out? Why do people like to be scared? Is it just a rush or does it mess with the brain? We consult some authors on the subject and even bring on an expert in the field to provide his two cents, horror filmmaker Don Adams. He schools us in Horror 101 and gives us a list of classic scary movies to start with. Let's dissect this issue and see where we land. Will this be the year that horror makes its way into Mouse's house?

E93 - Actor W. Earl Brown: Deadwood, Bloodworth, Country & More - Part 2
We continue the conversation with W. Earl Brown, Deadwood’s ‘Dan Dority’, to find out details including the personal story behind the famous eyeball fight scene, how Jerry Cantrell of Alice in Chains and ZZ Top are involved, why the award-winning HBO series by David Milch was abruptly cancelled, and how the movie came about, giving the story and its actors closure. We sneak in another fight scene question, this one with Joaquin Phoenix in Paul Thomas Anderson’s The Master. Also  jump into Earl’s screenplay adaptation of his own personal Catcher in the Rye, Provinces of Night, to become the movie Bloodworth, starring Val Kilmer, Kris Kristofferson, Hillary Duff, Dwight Yoakam, Frances Conroy, and Reece Thompson. The personal family stories and side tales about Kris Kristofferson are not to be missed, as we talk about country music, rock music, and all three of our personal connections with musicians like Steve Earle, Hank Williams, and Dolly Parton. We discuss his country band Sacred Cowboys and his funny new short film Dad Band with possible future installations! Be sure to see work Earl has done, such as playing Sheriff Hugo Root on Preacher, and keep an eye on the exciting future of this wonderful actor, writer, and musician!

E91 - Fix My Life Sis!

What Would Weens Do? Parenting advice and more! Julianne has been staying with Joelle during quarantine and after a few weeks, has a new perspective on how her family operates. Knowing this, Mouse asks for advice to overhaul how the house runs and how she’s raising the kids. Julianne becomes a pseudo life coach and gives Joelle tips in 5 categories: food, kids and parenting, self, household, and relationships. As uncomfortable as it is for the little sister to tell the big sister what to do, the takeaways are very positive. This episode has so many great nuggets of wisdom that anyone listening will learn a thing or two they can implement to improve their life!

E90 - Grandma's Nuts

E90 - Mom's in town so we sit down for some relationship questions, incriminating grandparent stories, hip and trendy celebrity impersonations, and hearty guffaws. Find out what nuts, tortoises, the Tucson desert, and bowls of blood have in common. Weens asks about regrets with our dad which spurs a story about dating Cowboy Denny. We question our tomboy qualities, learning about what mom fought for and what she let go of. And we finally reveal to her our secret ways of sneaking out of the house in high school, but are surprised by her response. There’s a fact check on coyote fatalities, we accidentally pitch a real-life horror movie idea about rattlesnakes in the ravine, and we close it out with a three-part harmony to our lord. You heard it here first!

E89 - Haiku Wieners

E89 - Our boot scootin cat starts us off with an exclamation mark as we get talking about Weens’ re-entry into the social media world. We find out if she is in fact The Rock’s number one super mega fan on Instagram and what the heck is the name of the guy who wrote Hamilton. Then we get to the meat of the episode and read everyone’s fun Haiku contest submissions, commenting on their back stories and finding out their entertainment industry connections. Put cotton in your ears and get the broom ready because we’re doing some shout-outs and name-dropping!  You’ll learn all sorts of stories about us along the way including Mouse’s Australian love connection, Julianne’s Exorcist sleepwalking moves, and Joelle’s thoughts on armpits. E88 - Love Life and Dating Q&A

Still stuck on the topic of online dating, Joelle talks Julianne into doing a funny Q & A to find out all about our love lives. First we catch up on 80’s tv, get advice from Alan Alda, and lament the air quality from the Northern California wildfires (stay safe Sunni, Brandi and Cori). Then we jump into online dating with optimistic Mouse and pessimistic Weens, and dissect what types of guys Weens likes. There’s a rather frightening interruption that throws us for a loop, so we pause and come back the next day. You’ll hear about married men, divorced men, and deal breakers when it comes to humor, taste in music, and footwear. We even play a little fantasy threesome, FMK or Whoopee-Marry- Kill, and learn way too much about Tom Hardy and Don Johnson!

E87 - Plucking, Online Dating, Dirty John, Feet

This is a fun one from under a blanket in LA! As we’re staring at kneecaps, we talk about shaving, tweezing and how it brings please. Why? To find out, we fact-check plucking and trichotillomania and find out some interesting biology behind it. Then we recap a recent camping trip and have some amazing, simple advice for parents. Naturally, this leads us to talk about the Reels conspiracy theory and online dating. Weens is poking her hairless toe into the man pool and we talk all about Hinge and the fine folks popping up on the app. Then Julianne tells the story of her friend’s involvement with Dirty John. Holy crumb, no wonder she’s hesitant! Finally we get into feet, loafers, and Joelle’s ex-boyfriends who belong in them. It’s a funny episode that lets you peek inside the world of a couple of grown-up but  not-so-grown-up sisters.

E86 - Part 2 Alison Arngrim: Nellie Oleson of Little House on the Prairie
We’re back to finish our fun interview with Alison Arngrim, the wonderful Nellie Oleson actress, turned stand-up comedian and New York Times best-selling author. She talks about real-life 'Little House on the Prairie' mean girl moments, on-set rumors, what Michael Landon was like, her ringlet HAIR!, and why she thinks Little House child actors grew up to stay on the straight and narrow. We talk about how Alison is the David Hasselhoff of France and the hilarious reason why French cultural differences work in her favor. Joelle recounts stories when she pretended to be tomboy Laura, learned how to be blind like Mary, and even re-enacted the famous Nellie wheelchair scene, sans duck poop and radioactive waste of course! Alison answers some listener questions about her tv episodes and we learn the truth behind certain famous scenes. We also discuss the fact that The Rock might have a crush on her of sorts!

Alison is the queen of reinvention and hustle, and tells us about her Nasty Nellie tours of Hollywood and her online stand-up shows. She is also a survivor of childhood abuse and now is a powerful advocate at the National Association to Protect Children Hear her full story in her book, available on We talk about the anxiety during this stressful pandemic, but also the hopeful medical advances that are being made (llama vaccines?!), and how she copes by being a helper. She has found that daily readings of the 'Little House' books on her Facebook Live have helped her and her thousands of followers find comfort. Alison is such a positive force out there and we had a wonderful time learning her story, her causes, and getting to know her. Please follow her and do the same!

E85 - Nellie Oleson! Little House on the Prairie’s Alison Arngrim

Part 1 of our interview with energetic Alison Arngrim who played original mean girl Nellie Oleson on the long-running tv series that 70’s and 80’s kids everywhere grew up on, Little House On The Prairie. She makes time for us between her stand-up shows and Facebook Live daily readings to tell us fascinating stories about growing up in Hollywood in the wild 1960’s and 70’s in a showbiz family. Hear what her family connections were to the fabulous Liberace and Debbie Reynolds, what it was like to live in the Chateau Marmont, and other mini tales from her book Confessions of a Prairie Bitch: How I Survived Nellie Oleson and Learned to Love Being Hated. We hear what it was like to be a child actor at that time in Los Angeles and how her auditions in front of Michael Landon went before she earned the part of Nasty Nellie! Some listener Q&A’s reveal if her tv mother Mrs. Harriet Oleson, played by Katherine MacGregor, was really as mean as she played on the show, and how Alison’s real-life friends and fans treated her in public.  Find out what she and co-star Melissa Gilbert, who played Laura Ingalls Wilder, are up to during the quarantine, and why she thinks all things Little House are having the resurgence and relevance they are today. E84 - Police On Police

We are proud to have Ahmed Hassan back co-hosting with us, and to be a platform for these important voices. We put together a panel of California cops - a black female police officer, a white female police officer, and a black male police officer - to discuss what they’ve seen and what they know from their experiences in law enforcement. You’ll hear why they chose this career and their thoughts on brutality, protests, and defunding the police. You’ll learn their insights into quotas, racial profiling, sundowning laws, the code of silence, and what is really happening in the station and on the streets in their profession. How do the ‘bad apples’ make it onto the force and is this issue as prevalent as we’re seeing in the media? This is an eye-opening discussion spanning many years and many perspectives. We came out of it with a new viewpoint and wonder if you might too. You can see Ahmed on our Race and HGTV episodes too.

E83 - Should I Homeschool?

During this quarantine shutdown time, many parents are faced with educational decisions for their kids including whether or not to homeschool. This is a conversation with Joelle's childhood friend Ali, a former teacher and homeschooler of five kids here in California since 2004. She has a great perspective on the benefits and what it takes to homeschool, and talks Mouse through the whole process from her point of view. We cover why she chose to homeschool, whether to go with independent, private, or charter school education, her thoughts on ages and behaviors that are a good fit for homeschooling, which curriculum to choose,  whether to use old school papers and books versus digital tools and computers, what is HSLDA and why it's crucial, being under an umbrella school, filing a homeschool affidavit, hiring a teacher to oversee your paperwork and keep you accountable and on track, what a homeschool calendar and schedule looks like with grades, test-taking, field trips, outdoor learning, vacations, and structure, socialization and when it's time for the kids to join outside classes, co-ops, or go back to public school, how to do science labs, language classes, SATs, taking junior college classes for credits, being on a 4-year college track, and what universities really think of homeschoolers.

Please check our Show Notes on to see a list of recommended curricula from Ali.

E82 - Going Crazy, Near Death, Comedy and Celebrities

Anyone else going nuts? Julianne talks about the film industry shutdown and then Joelle tells a wild, near death story that happened to her and the kids, all started by being stuck at home and going sort of crazy. Ok, maybe that’s being dramatic. But Weens gets into real Near Death Experiences and talks of speaker and author Nancy Rynes who died twice and came back to talk about it. NDE’s are fascinating and people can learn great lessons from them. Hey, what’s keeping us busy? Summer camp, distant get-togethers, planning a documentary!, and lots of comedy, including talk of actress and comic Martha Kelly from Baskets and an awkward family Don’t Mess With the Zohan moment! Parenting is stressful, but Mouse is trying to teach kids important lessons like black lives matter, especially in a city that is dealing with racism. What can you do as a parent to help when everyone is locked down and you feel helpless about activism? Get people to vote with! We do lots of name-dropping throughout this episode especially in our ‘Celebrity Stories That Go Nowhere’ segment, so listen for Adam Sandler, Carol Channing, Woody Allen, George Wendt, Will Ferrell, Kid Rock, Gabriel Byrne, Michael Landon, Nellie Oleson, Alison Arngrim, Joe and Kevin Jonas, Anita Moorjani, Ethel Merman, Katherine Hepburn, and Zach Galifinakis mentions. E81 - Teachers & Back To School with Jennifer Campbell-Martin

After catching up with how our summer quarantine single-lives vs mom-lives are going, we jump into an insightful conversation with Jennifer Campbell Martin, a 20-year middle school teacher in Long Beach, California. We get an educator’s point of view of what going back to school might look like, and are interested to hear about what the plans might be. Virtual learning vs on-campus? Will kids wear masks? How will schools do class time and rotations? Where will they eat lunch? Are teachers as anxious as parents? There are so many factors to consider, so we break it all down bit by bit. This is a fun, lighthearted but poignant conversation that will get all the gears moving as we get closer to back-to-school. What to do?!

E78 - Raskob Ranch

We remember chunks of early childhood stories, but is it all lore based on old photos? Who was this woman Dolores Raskob we used to call our godmother? How was she connected to the Empire State Building construction? Rockefellers? DuPonts? Astors? FDR? Is it true Joelle saved Julianne’s life? Why was Weens always crying in pictures? We go right to the horse’s mouth and call on our mom to clarify! And being sisters, we can’t help but battle to find out who was the favorite daughter. Listen, learn, and laugh with us...or at us!

E77 - Things Are Getting Hairy

Well, Joelle’s well broke and we hear about the stress as she watches her property’s plants slowly die, a special kind of torture for a gardener! And Julianne catches us up on her frustrating hair moment and hasty Corona cut.  We segue into talking about HAIR during quarantine and the special problems we are all facing – roots, greys, colors and cuts! We interview our good friend Carla Reynolds, a local hairdresser with some thoughts, tips, and tricks during this do-it-yourself time. Should we use boxed color? Try new colors while at home? How can we deal with these roots growing out? How are hairdressers feeling about going back to work? Trimming  kids’ hair? After some more awful 90’s references (apparently we’re stuck), we pivot again into what is fondly called Culture Corner. We have two fun clips with Julianne’s friends: Matthew Stevens reads us a very hip poem of his, and Chris Osmundson gives us a book recommendation complete with character voices! Hear the grand finale song as Julianne sings us out with “The Magic Store” that you may remember from The Muppet Movie.

Thank you all for listening and we hope you will consider supporting Meals on Wheels, providing food and well-checks for seniors in need.

We get some inside scoop about the background of his career, of how the show worked behind the scenes, his work as a spokesperson, and owning his own thriving landscaping business. Ahmad answers some listener gardening questions about grubs, succulents, eucalyptus, tight jeans!, and tells us about the quirky eco-friendly way he has been bathing lately! E74 – Patti Negri - Hollywood Psychic Medium and Good Witch

We celebrate Mouse and mom’s birthday by going to the Hollywood hills to visit a good witch, Patti Negri, author and psychic medium to the stars…and to us! Patti shares her personal journey of how she learned to embrace her gifts of communicating with the dead from a very early age. She reveals some spiritual encounters on tv shows clearing ghosts from famous houses, channeling celebrities like Michael Jackson, and conjuring serial killers like that of the Black Dahlia. Then we get down and dirty with our own personal tarot readings and contacting our dead loved ones. Mouse gets a special bathtub spell to connect to her inner child, Weens discovers that her new love is waiting in a corner, and mom talks to her mother who reveals something very personal and vulnerable. Patti facilitates some very spooky-cool and extremely insightful connections to ourselves and to our loved ones who have passed on. And at the end of the episode Mouse gets unsettling news regarding our dead father and the lies that were told. Where will we go from here?  Patti gives some great tips on how to tap into your own psychic abilities, how to deal with imbalance and stress, and how to work toward happiness, all outlined in her book Old World Magick for the Modern World. Come on this journey with us as Patti lifts the veil between the world of the living and the world of the dead, and allows us all to peek in. You will be on the edge of your seat!

E73 - Costa Corona Birthday

Costa Rica during the coronavirus outbreak? Weens finally safely returned home and talks all about her gorgeous but dicey girls trip. Even though there is a lot of laughing in this episode, we get into our feelings as we talk about how everything is going in our two very different lives. Weens is happy doing a solo quarantine in artistic solitude, while Mouse is juggling a full family household and attempting homeschooling with lots of unknowns. There are fun stories, dumb jokes, some tears, and a few nice takeaways. And being Mouse’s and mom’s birthday, Weens writes a special custom song to celebrate this weird year! Joelle’s pals also add some nice sentiments, so listen until the end! Hope everyone is hanging in there and we hope to bring you some solace and smiles.

E71 - Awkward and Embarrassed

It’s easy to be awkward if you’re an Eggold sister,  we have come to find out. Hear the latest completely mortifying story that happened to Julianne at work. Is it a tall girl thing because of extra long limbs? Or is it just us? Joelle is famous for waving when people look away, and we are both guilty of just generally being big dorks. We call on our friends to help us commiserate and hear some of their stories too, most involving underwear! Then we make official our segment “Celebrity Stories That Go Nowhere”, underlining that awkwardness is rampant around stars! We end with a must-hear tutorial about handshakes, fist bumps, and that elusive cheek kiss. Episode 67 - Well Good Morning!

Hop on the 2020 sister train and follow our thoughts as we talk through Mouse’s suburban optimism and Weens’ city pessimism, while discussing traffic, Mr. Rogers, true crime, and the homeless. Our eyes were opened by Julianne’s interview with a Los Angeles Police Department officer, who had a lot of information and thoughtful perspectives on the homeless problem in LA and the day to day issues that the LAPD deals with. Then we have some parenting discussions about Mouse’s boys about male role models, teasing and gender jokes, internet safety, and sexual health. Fun fact: did you know Joelle was a sex educator in college and was on the news talking about HPV? Now, don’t be fooled by the heavy topics. This episode is laden with ridiculousness and funny stories. Look out for brisk red sweaters, bearded ice skaters, drunk tarot card readers, caped rollerskaters in g-strings, condom banana totems, and a guy named Rare. Episode 66 - New Years Resolutions

Most people want to start the upcoming year fresh with a clean slate, a healthier mindset, and with new goals to reach. But more often than not, people's new year's resolutions fail. Why and what are we doing wrong? What can we do differently to finally hit our goals this year? We are no experts, so we decided to do some research after setting up our traveling recording studio in Idaho. Patent lawyer David, also Mouse's husband, came in to talk to us about his thoughts on New Year's resolutions and we ended up connecting the dots between his goal-setting nature and how he built his successful intellectual property law firm ten years ago.  Then we snagged a drive-by interview with our brother Chad, a program manager at Microsoft, to hear how business theories can be applied in the new year. And our mom even joins the chat! We agree on most points, but argue over a couple of them as we read off a thorough list on how to set and keep a New Year's Resolution. Hear about our own goals and what we think will work for us. Let us know what yours are too!

Episode 65 - Ski-Doos and Ski-Don'ts

It’s Christmas Eve and it’s our two-year anniversary, so we go back to where it all began in our mom’s basement in Idaho! She even pops in for a bit - a throwback to episode 1 - and we recount childhood holiday stories, getting nostalgic about the elf on the shelf and dad dressed as santa. So much fun but so many lies! We catch up and compare our LA and San Diego parties. And we tell our latest crazy family story about going snowmobiling in West Yellowstone, where we crashed and got stuck in the snow for hours. Did we survive? Or did we freeze to death, only to thaw out and be discovered in the Springtime like so many other victims? You’ll have to listen to find out!

Episode 64 - Sex and Love

Let's talk about sex. Addicted to love. Great song titles and an exciting topic! We put ourselves in the hot seat and discuss role playing in relationships, hear from a couple girlfriends about their fantasies, and talk about spicing up a marriage. When it comes to single life, why do some women pick dirt bag guys? Learn about sex and love addiction and its connection to parenting. The little sister teaches the big sister a lot about attachment theory and parenting in this one, amidst lots of laughter and anatomy jokes. We just can't help ourselves. We get real with our love lives and it gets real uncomfortable!

Episode 62 - Girls Trips, Moms Nights Out, Female Friendships

Mouse recaps her girls’ trip wine tasting in Mexico with friends but feels guilty being gone three weekends in a row. Meet Joelle’s friends and find out if her husband is really okay with all this time away or resentful? Are the kids feeling abandoned thinking mom is selfish? How do you take female friends from acquaintances to besties and how do you keep those friendships going over the years? We go over reasons why we need our mom’s nights out and the science behind having girlfriends. We will post study references in our Show Notes. Hear the statistics on how much moms really work and how much free time they have to themselves. No wonder we need our time away! Then we read a controversial article about why some mothers don’t want girl time. Is it healthier to focus more on your husband or is it codependency? Joelle feels judged by this “blessed” woman who shoulds her, but maybe it’s insecurity and she needs to hear it? Weens does a great job giving advice as a non-mom and talks kids’ independence, giving up some control, and raises the future question of how much you should talk dirty in front of your kids. This is a good one for all of us striving to get balance with parenting anxiety. Please take a listen and rate/review on Apple Podcasts to let us know what you think! Thank you!

Episode 59 - Fourteen is a Rollercoaster
We recorded most of this episode while spending a day at the Southern California amusement park Knott’s Berry Farm with Mouse’s 14-year-old and his buddy. Hear our interview with them about video games, restrictions, thoughts on bullying in high school, and what might be going on in the mind of a school shooter. They break down current rap styles and rappers for Weens as she lists off her favorites from the 90’s. And even though we are forgetful and say words like brawn and gams, we were pleasantly surprised that these sweet kids wanted to hang out with us! Mouse tells a story about high school football and marching band, and we jump into our theme park memories of boy crushes. Weens – what a heartbreaker!

Episode 58 – Mouse Doggy Dog You Need a Jobby Job
Weens talks work on Warner Brothers hit show The Rookie and Mouse discusses writing her garden book. How do you reset goals and hit new writing deadlines? We get talking about first jobs as Mouse’s son starts to save up money. Guess who was the babysitter, camp counselor, telemarketer, candy shop girl, frozen yogurt jerk, urgent care receptionist, and bowling alley waitress?  It wasn’t all work either with motorcycle rides, whipped cream huffs, office looting, bomb threats to Treasure Island, and lying about lobsters. We sidetrack to discuss Once Upon A Time in Hollywood and agree that the Leonardo DiCaprio and Brad Pitt characters, and the Manson Ranch scene, is scarily reminiscent of a strange summer in our childhood during which our dad trained to be a stuntman at the artist colony Zorthian Ranch, full of nude models and pig pens. Hear a list of friends and listeners first jobs and enjoy this weird little trip down memory lane.

Episode 55 – Mean Girls
We have encountered undermining women lately and try to get to the bottom of it. Mouse and Weens dig into some evolutionary biology - caveman theories - and we look at young girl groups to understand early mean girl behavior. Why are some women hurtful to each other in the workplace? How do you deal with anger, jealousy, resentment, and sabotage? What can women do to remedy the situation? Hear about both Joelle’s and Julianne’s current mean girl situations, after we play catch up talking kids, cord and screen drama, a Hulk Hogan archery master, whether our dad was the Golden State Killer, and reminiscing about a cute crush boy. Then take a 60’s music trivia quiz with us! The big picture here is to learn about female dynamics and how to improve future situations and relationships with other women.

Episode 54 - Singing Wiener and First Kisses
Weens birthed an album of love songs! We talk about her LA performance at an Art of Freelance showcase and the how and why behind pushing out this 12-song love child. Hear her album at Then we hear some sound bytes from one of her biggest fans and friends, Don Adams, who we find out also has a slight crush on our mom! He tells the story of reading a page out of Julianne's girlhood diary, which gets us talking about journals and diaries we had as kids. We realize now how overly dramatic we were in writing them. Mouse kept hers but wrote in code as she got older, especially for milestones like her first kiss. Hear how Joelle's first kiss went down at Christian summer camp during a nature walk, and what Weens remembers about her first kisses. Then we scratch the surface on mean girls as we begin to do some in depth research for our next episode. Please write or call in if you have any mean girl stories or advice! Episode 42 - The Grass is Greener, Wiener!
It’s Superbowl Sunday and raining gophers in Southern California! As we catch up on mom life and work life, we realize we want to switch roles a la Freaky Friday. Weens wants the excitement of kids, and Mouse wants a vacation from all the juggling. We discuss the transition from stay at home mom to getting back into the work force, finding purpose in your job, both paid and volunteer, and how to draw the line between the giving of and charging for your time. Mouse struggles with drawing the line on social media on her phone in front of the kids too and Weens explains simplifying her life. We get sidetracked by Bert and Ernie, Carol Channing, and then reminisce about our boobies first growing, first tampons, and our PE teacher/actor dad playing sports with us after school while rehearsing scenes. Again, another Henson sidetrack gets us talking about Sesame Street and exposure to races and nationalities growing up in predominantly white suburbs. We end hearing a very spiritual dream that Mouse had about the afterlife, a possible message from dad, and a utopian society which reminds Weens of an Albert Brooks movie and some near-death experiences she has studied. Weens sets her sights on woodchoppers and guys who keep their cars moderately clean, and ball talk reminds Mouse of her possum prune story. Episode 35 - Andrew Piccone
Our good friend from high school, Andrew Piccone, came by with lots of insight about the Eggold sisters. He owns Wander Mouse Films, shooting projects for Snoop Dogg, Disney, Shepard Fairey and MC5. We all reminisce about growing up in suburbia, our old film projects, and the goofy trouble we used to get into, and then dissect our guy-girl friend relationship. Weens gets mad at us for leaving her out, but now he and Weens hang out, going to movies like Bodied, the battle rap movie produced by Eminem. We land on weed talk, movie ideas while high, and pot paranoia. Weens tells a cringeworthy butt-dial story, and we get into November birthdays, Scorpios, and love lives. We had so much fun with Andrew, our Joseph Fiennes lookalike. This one is a loller! Amazing beautiful song credit: “Fly Away” by Julianne Eggold.

Episode 34 - The Séance (lo-fi)
Weens and our mom, Joyce Carter, recap a séance they attended in the Hollywood Hills with psychic medium Patti Negri. Mom's parents came through, and dad came through for Weens, Mom also tells our birth stories - Weens was gigantic and Mouse was a slip of the IUD. And we share stories of mopeds and mom blocking our potential boy make out sessions! (We had some technical difficulties so the audio is rough in this three-way call, but bear with us)

Episode 33 - Ghost Stories of Mouse and (Hallo)Weens!
We’re back and full of stories, both the dental kind and the ghost kind! Weens had a hot root canal, and Mouse had a dental panic attack. Scary stuff, just like the ghost stories we gathered from our friends and coworkers. The spooky experiences were from friends living in houses where spirits still resided, and from employees at the haunted MacArthur Park Towers who dealt with many of the residents dying. Hear about a little hooded boy, an angry rose-lover locking doors, a suicide ex giving a kiss, the man in the yellow jacket, the Virginia horseman, Teddy Ruxpin coming to life, and an out-of-body fisticuffs. Call us if you know more about spirits or if you have ghost stories to share! (858) 206-8746

Episode 32 - She’s Out, Childhood Stories, Acting and Murder
Mouse rips off her mask and reveals her identity to be Joelle Eggold Kohn. Ahh it feels good to not have a secret anymore! We also talk a bit about our up and coming famous cousin, Ryan Eggold, on NBC’s New Amsterdam, which launches us into childhood memories and adventures – spying, trapping the neighborhood boy with lipstick and Brut, classroom crushes gone wrong, and reunions. Weens explains her New York acting experience and recounts a murder right outside her house. We end on varmints, stories about them and a shoutout to the Varmints! podcast! Song credit: “Rainy Sunday” by Weens aka Julianne Eggold.

Episode 31 - Coming Out and Jealousy

Weens is coming out! She is Julianne Eggold and featured in The Lazy Teacher Podcast episode 39 Mouse is still wrestling with being anonymous, but having a secret is not fun and is causing stress. Most parents in suburbia have secrets and dumb past lives. Just look at Brett Kavanaugh, our favorite douchebag jock. Weens wants to stick all the douches on an island together with lube, brewskis, and a football. But Mouse's idea is to start a fruit porn industry, to give men safe places to stick their stuff. Melons and pumpkins don't mind being objectified and groped! We switch gears and discuss a listener's question about a jealous girlfriend breaking up with him over seeing a photo that he couldn't explain. Jealousy is a tough emotion and we share our stories, both in our relationships and in our careers. Mouse tells the story about when she knew she couldn't be a doctor, and Weens' coworker Jackson DeFreest from The Rookie defines envy vs jealousy. We talk about promoting other entertainers but having the tendency to self-promote instead and hold onto our one nut. On that nut, please leave us a good review on iTunes! Nina Simone cover song credit: Jesse Biggio and Jackson DeFreest "Feelin Good".

Episode 30 - Interview Weens On The Job
We hear all about life on the set as Weens is interviewed about her job in locations for TV and films. The behind the scenes of her day to day is laid out as we learn about some recent details for shoots on The Rookie. She gets talking about the creative process, her writing, other projects, and where she wants to go in her career. We hope you have fun learning more about Weens! See the accompanying Warner Bros backlot tour video on our YouTube channel. Song credit: “The Cage Song” by Weens.

Episode 29 - The Lazy Teacher Podcast Episode Swap
We hang out with an awesome teacher, podcaster, and friend - Brian Pawlowski of The Lazy Teacher Podcast - in our first ever episode swap! No subjects are off limits as we talk about Weens’ dating life, music, parents vs teachers, school gardens, kids’ nutrition, and all sorts of goofy, giant topics. Enjoy this fun one and please be sure to follow The Lazy Teacher Podcast for Brian’s insight into education, parenting, passion, and life! He’s a good egg! Song credit: “Giant Friends” by Weens.

Episode 28 - Trusty Rusty, Snowflake Sweater, Bears on a Picnic

Dating! How do you send someone to the friend zone if they don't take the hint? What if your dude uses more product than you do? Date outside your comfort zone? Ever wear the wrong undergarments on a date? Is it a deal breaker if the guy wears a sweater with shorts? We have some stories to share! We also get into yoga, meditation, spelunking, and couples’ karaoke. These hard-hitting topics and more! Please rate and review, and feel free to support Weens' new underwear campaign on Song credit: "My Man" by Weens.

Episode 27 - Mole, Mule, Mole, Mule

Mouse explains her family's Jewish side - the non bar mitzvah birthday campout and the non bris bris. Is 13 a man? Technology, coddling, and helicopter parenting might be to blame. Free range parenting is getting pushback in Mouse's community probably because of the past small town murders. We talk crime and burglaries, and Weens tells her stolen bike story, ending with a flurry of 80's George confusion!  We remember a family camping trip and get into why men on our dad's side are solitary - artsy Grizzly Adams or anxiety? Weens tells another hilarious work story, we do some car talk, and get into shame cleaning. Mouse knows new moms are notorious for this! Mouse is balancing her mini midlife crisis needing to go out and party, with working in the school garden, and we give props to all the teachers out there taking care of our kids. (Shout out to The Lazy Teacher Podcast!) Please tell your friends about us. We would love some word of mouth support!

Episode 26 - Hollywood, Fortnite, Breastfeeding
Friday Happy Hour and so much laughing! We talk wildfires in So Cal and the Paradox of Choice. Are too many choices causing anxiety and depression? We discuss Hollywood and whether its sordid reputation is deserved. Mouse’s wine kicks in and after a smoky laughing jag, take a guess who is Merle Haggard and who is Sideshow Bob. Weens runs into Craig Robinson on the set of Dolemite Is My Name and she explains their connection through music. We talk about women getting stuck in awkward overnight situations and playing possum. Mouse laments the Summer of Fortnite but finds some balance with her latest project with the kids – filming a homemade cop movie! And we report that Mouse’s daughter is still obsessed with The Greatest Showman. We delve into cleavage and boobs, which somehow leads to a White Grandpa Rap. Our relationships with our grandparents is brought up, as is nose-picking, Neti Pots, and other gross body issues. Nipples are a part of the body, Weens wonders about breastfeeding, and Mouse explains what it feels like. We talk nursing, breast milk, formula, feeding, and sleeping. Hear the hit song Hot Milk by Weens as Mouse rationalizes feeding choices and light sleeping habits. We close it out with some sick laughter that may or may not have created a small tinkle.

Episode 25 - Trader Joe's Tragedy, Body Image, Caveman Theories, Lean In
More deep thoughts. In this episode we discuss the Silver Lake hostage situation at the Trader Joes down the street from Weens' house in Los Angeles. She describes the scene of helicopters, emergency vehicles, camera crews, journalists, cops, SWAT, and the mayor, and laments our detachment watching real life situations unfold on screen. Mouse wonders if it felt like Weens was at work, on the set of a cop show. But the reality and the thought of these victims having PTSD from this tragedy gets us talking about trauma. We discuss therapy, body image issues, and bikinis on the beach. Why do women worry about bodies so much and men tend not to? Mouse gets into her caveman theories and how they relate to diet (are we evolving to be vegetarians?), dating, and mean girls. Is it evolution that has brought about gender and sexuality differences? Will we see women in power as we witness more marches and the fight for salary equality? Is this the cycling of history as at the turn of the century and again in the 60's? Mouse talks about Sheryl Sandberg's book "Lean In" and how she's trying to apply it to raise a strong daughter. We talk about siblings and their role in families - first born, middle child, and the baby. What were Mouse and Weens like as little kids and why? And then we close it out by realizing that Weens, a boiling frog, needs a well-aerated plug!

Episode 24 - Platonic Friends, Good Cop Bad Cop, Ball Questions, and Bachata There is a heat wave. Is global warming really a hoax? Weens tells a story of her lost cat out in the Joshua Tree desert and mom’s Lawrence of Arabia search with her friend Blake. We discuss whether men and women can truly be platonic friends, or are the scales of attraction are always tipped one way or another. What do you think? We then get into inside joke talk and you’ll hear about “Popcorn Balls”. Speaking of balls, we have many ball questions – How do they sit? For a visual, Mouse suggests the first episode of the Sarah Silverman show “I Love You, America”, complete with nudists and full frontal, breaking down the barriers of our hangup with bodies.  Do guys adjust balls or penis? Which filmmaker explained to Weens and a famous puppeteer what bat wings are? Naturally, testicle Q and A transitions into parenting and who between Mouse and her husband is the rule enforcer during the long summer. One is the good cop, and one is the bad cop. We talk about the Mr. Rogers documentary movie “Won’t You Be My Neighbor?”. Weens gives her review, talks about the rare scene she witnessed in the movie theater, and we get into the lessons learned. Lastly, Weens interviews her childhood friend Jennifer who is visiting her in LA. Jen gets onto the subject of her favorite latin dance from the Dominican Republic, the Bachata, and we learn what it means with its moves, lyrics, and style, even “hearing” it danced!  We hope you enjoy! Episode 23 - Mouse Does CoolSculpting, Yanni Visits Weens This one is a favorite! We're back with some life updates and mustache talk. Weens describes her new gig on the set of the LA tv show The Rookie and her Fishbone concert, and Mouse talks about her family vacation in Puerta Vallarta, Mexico. Warning: if you're squeamish about pool attack iguanas or ticks, skip this part. Mouse gets CoolSculpting done on her belly and gets into her feelings on body image, curves, self care, diet and exercise. Hear the whole description of how this fat tummy blasting works and visit our Facebook Group Mouse and Weens to see the behind the scenes stomach at the medical spa. Write in with your self care thoughts! Yanni pops up to add to our conversation about car washes, massage, saxophone vs pan flute, and Kenny G. And the sisters reminisce about roller skating, the 80's, boys with feathered hair, Steve Perry, white jeans, Ralph Macchio, Bruce Willis, and Mouse's celebrity sighting of the hot Karate Kid villain William Zabka in the eighties. Don't miss this episode. It will tickle your upper upper lip!

Episode 15 – Garry Shandling We catch up after our hiatus of spring break and pilot season. Weens explains her thoughts on living hand to mouth in the entertainment industry. Then we jump into Judd Apatow’s Zen Diaries of Garry Shandling documentary discussion. We interview our mom, who has a personal story about Garry Shandling from her past. The story evolves into learning about our dad’s history as a football player who went from the University of Arizona to the New York Jets to the New England Patriots in the early 1970’s. Our mom tells the story of their relationship and gives her feelings on our dad’s motivations and struggles. And we end up seeing a lot of parallels between Garry Shandling and our father, during which Weens gives her thoughts on acting and achievement and shares her own stories of self-sabotage and growth, a lot like our dad and Garry did. It’s another episode to get to know us and our family. This is us, folks! We are being ourselves, and we hope you gain something from it too.
